Early May Flowers
With warm weather and longer days, all of the flowering plants and shrubs are growing, some getting ready to bloom, some now if flower. It is a time for transplanting, cleaning flower beds, propagating new plants, and cleaning up. Landscape projects have been underway. We have a new border with a small wall, ready for vines to climb the trellis next to the deck. Irrigation is being repaired and expanded. Walkways are being expanded. We have a new property boundary on one side with a retaining wall and fence. It will have a 80 foot border with shrubs and perennials, bordered with blocks and rockeries. And, maintenance is ongoing, so every day we are out in the garden.
We take time every day to appreciate our flowering plants each day and we try to take a few photographs. A few are shared here in a Google Photos slideshow (link – Early May in the Garden):
Soon it will be time to plant the warm weather crops – potatoes, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, and squash. Pollinators are busy at work throughout the gardens. Yellow alyssum is in full bloom, an area for a floral scent and a celebration of spring.
