Every month brings new flowers, maturing vegetables, and herbs, and shrub growth. We go out every day to weed, deadhead, harvest, transplant, rebuild, clean up, and survey what needs to be done. But we also go out just to enjoy the beauty of the plants in the gardens. We often take photos, but only keep the best ones and a few of these are shared on this website.

Some additional comments are also added here:
- We don’t plant many annuals, but three are reliable, low maintenance and showy – gazania, zinnia, and cosmos.
- Japanese spirea can be invasive and we spend some time each year pulling out self-seeded mini shrubs. It has a beautiful flower display and has a neat and compact habit so we keep a few in the yard.
- We have several different types of sage in the yard, each with its own blooming period.
- We all have our own personal favorites, but of the ones shared here, Maltese cross and stonecrop have been on my list for decades.
