Mid-Summer Flower Gardens

A Gardener's Journal Posted on August 1, 2026 by D. SmithJuly 24, 2026

Many of the flowers of spring have since disappeared.    We deadhead the perennials and allow the leaves and roots to build nutrients for winter and new growth in spring.   Some of the plants have a second wave of flowering.     Summer-blooming are now in flower, a few of which will last into the fall.  We spend time each day weeding, deadheading, collecting debris (although some is used as mulch), watering, and supporting top-heavy flowering plants.    We take time each day to walk the gardens, taking photos when the light and composition is right.

Shared here are a few photos from the garden, with common names added to the images, in a Google Photos slideshow.
